Bharti Airtel has awarded a multi-year Managed Services (MS) contract to Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC), reinforcing their long-standing partnership and Ericsson’s leadership in telecom infrastructure. This collaboration aims to deliver superior value to Airtel customers through advanced service management.
As part of this agreement, Ericsson will implement intent-based operations using its centralized Network Operations Center (NOC). This setup will allow Ericsson to manage Airtel’s services across 4G, 5G NSA, 5G SA, Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), Private Networks, and Network Slicing nationwide.
This initiative will see Ericsson oversee Airtel’s pan-India network while scaling up FWA and network slicing capabilities through its state-of-the-art NOC infrastructure.
“We are excited to enhance our strong collaboration with Ericsson as we pursue our goal of creating a future-ready network that delivers an exceptional experience for our customers. We believe that these innovative technologies will empower us to meet the growing data demands of consumers in a digitally connected India.” – Randeep Sekhon, CTO, Bharti Airtel
Andres Vicente, Head of Market Area Southeast Asia, Oceania, and India at Ericsson, commented, “This milestone agreement with Bharti Airtel reinforces our commitment to helping Airtel deliver the best possible experience for its customers. By leveraging Intent-Based NOC Operations, we will enable Airtel to unlock wider service diversification to meet customer needs, thereby enabling new revenue opportunities for Airtel.”
Ericsson and Airtel’s partnership spans more than 25 years and includes support across multiple generations of mobile technologies. This new deal closely aligns with their ongoing collaboration on 5G Core development to drive 5G evolution in India.
